Kavita Sethuraman

Dr. Kavita Sethuraman is a global health and nutrition leader with extensive experience working across development and humanitarian contexts. Her expertise spans maternal and child health and nutrition (MCHN), food security, gender, and social and behavior change, with experience in program design and management, policy and program analysis, technical assistance, research, advocacy, monitoring and evaluation, and capacity strengthening. She has worked across sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and the South Pacific, supporting community-based programs as well as broader policy and technical initiatives.

Most recently, Dr. Sethuraman served as Director, Nutrition in Humanitarian Contexts, for USAID Advancing Nutrition, where she led technical work to strengthen nutrition programming in humanitarian and development settings. Her expertise includes qualitative and quantitative research and mixed-methods approaches, gender analysis, nutrition advocacy, and translating evidence into practical guidance and approaches for programs and practitioners.

Dr. Sethuraman holds a PhD in Nutrition from the Institute for Global Health at University College London and a master’s degree in Nutrition from the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University.
