Amy Brown is a professor of maternal and child public health based in the School of Health and Social Care at Swansea University in the UK where she directs the research centre ‘LIFT’ which stands for Lactation, Infant Feeding and Translational Research. The aim of LIFT is to conduct research that matters to parents and professionals and makes a real difference to the support that parents receive around infant feeding and caring for their baby.
With a background in psychology, Amy has spent the last twenty years exploring psychological, cultural and societal barriers to breastfeeding, alongside experiences of perinatal mental health and caring for babies. Amy has published over 150 research papers and has led numerous research projects exploring infant feeding experiences. Her research underpins global policy and guidelines on infant feeding and wellbeing, and she is regularly invited to present evidence to governments, policy makers and healthcare organisations.
